Apple iPad Pro (2025) teardown reveals just how hard it is to get inside | Infinium-tech
Apple unveiled the M5-powered iPad Pro earlier this month, and now the folks at iFixit have taken it apart to check out its insides and find out how repairable it really is. By the way, this is the 13″ model, which is only 5.1 mm thick.
That thinness in itself makes repairs difficult, as each component needs to be packed extremely tightly, with the screen flush against the internal parts. And unfortunately, the only way in is through the screen.
Obviously, it’s not easy to remove the screen without breaking it, but at least Apple is providing repair manuals and parts. Once you get off the screen, things get easier.
Ten pull tabs must be pulled to remove the battery. The USB-C port is easily accessible and removable, with a lot of screws required to remove the logic board, and then it’s underneath the camera. Most of the screws inside are JIS type, but not all.
Finally, the 13″ iPad Pro (2025) gets a repairability score of 5 out of 10, where 0 would be the worst and 10 would be the best. The main issue is that the battery is only accessible after removing the screen, and that poses a risk of damaging the screen. Once you remove the screen, everything else is very easy to replace.
