After Close Friends, WhatsApp is now testing Custom Lists for status updates | Infinium-tech
Instagram introduced Close Friends feature for Instagram Stories In November 2018 and last September, we learned that WhatsApp was developing the same feature For your users. Now we have learned that WhatsApp is also working on a custom list feature for status updates, which will give its users more privacy controls.
This has been revealed from the people here WABetaInfoWho discovered this under-development custom list feature in beta version 2.26.5.11 of WhatsApp for Android. As the name suggests, custom lists allow WhatsApp users to create lists for different audiences who can see their status updates. For example, you could create one list that includes only your family members, while another contains people from your professional network. This is similar to the custom privacy controls provided by Facebook.

WABetaInfo The report says that WhatsApp users can select an emoji and a name for their custom lists, and any changes to the list only take effect when you post a new status update. This means that if you remove a contact from your custom list after posting a status update to that list, that contact will continue to see existing updates, but not new ones.
WABetaInfo Also shared a screenshot (included below) showing turn off friend option Along with three other status privacy options currently available to WhatsApp users.

Neither the Close Friends nor Custom Lists feature is available to WhatsApp users right now, including those enrolled in the beta program, so we’ll just have to wait for their rollout.
