WhatsApp now supports passkey-encrypted backups | Infinium-tech
Today WhatsApp has announced that it has started supporting passkey-encrypted backups. In practice this means you can use your fingerprint, face or screen lock code to encrypt your WhatsApp chat backups, rather than having to remember a password or resort to a “cumbersome 64-digit encryption key”, WhatsApp says.
The company further explains that “with just a tap or glance, the same protections that protect your personal chats and calls on WhatsApp apply to your chat backups”, so they are always “safe, accessible and private”.

The feature is expected to be rolled out gradually “over the coming weeks and months.” Once you have this, you can go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > End-to-end encrypted backup and select the Passkey option from there.
