WhatsApp continues testing “view once” text messages on iOS | Infinium-tech
WhatsApp has started testing “View Once” messages on iOS. As the name suggests, these will be messages that you send and can only be viewed once by the recipient. Once you view them, the messages will disappear.
To enable the functionality you simply need to long tap on the send button, which will then present you with the “Send as one view” option. Attach it and you’re done.
WhatsApp initially started testing this feature on Android earlier this month and now the same is happening on iOS. The View Once option is already available for photos, videos, and voice messages, but now WhatsApp is working on expanding it to text messages as well. That will cover everything.
View text messages will work in both one-to-one chats and group chats. However they will not be available in the channels. The new feature is not currently available in public beta, it is only being tested internally by WhatsApp developers. This new view one-time functionality is different from the one revealed in May – the feature allows you to have a message ‘expire’ after a set amount of time. What was revealed today lets people view a message just once and then it’s gone.
