Weekly poll results: most people game on their phone, many use tablets too | Infinium-tech
Last week, we asked you which device you use for gaming. And since we’re a smartphone-centric site, we weren’t surprised to see the smartphone option emerge as the top result. However, some of these rankings are a bit surprising.
We were expecting PCs or consoles to claim the #2 spot – instead tablets took over. Many people use older tablets as Netflix and Facebook devices, but they’re too old to run modern games – certainly not the more demanding titles. But as it turns out, many people have tablets powerful enough to run the games they play.

PCs came in third – this includes both desktop PCs and laptops. Judging by the comments, laptops are the preferred form of gaming PC these days. And while some laptop hardware has been repurposed into handheld consoles, they are not particularly common.
As far as traditional consoles go, they’re still popular, although our audience leans more toward PC. There are also ARM-powered handhelds, although most people use tablets for handheld gaming on the larger screen. However, some low-powered handhelds are used as emulation machines for older games.
Game streaming services barely registered on the charts. Predictably, VR gaming is a niche – we expected to see it near the bottom, though we were a little surprised to see VR outperformed by game streaming.
