Venmo is redesigning its app with a very useful privacy feature. With the new app, during the onboarding process, you’ll be able to set whether you want your posts to be viewable by default to everyone, only to your friends, or only to you. This is important because many people may not know that the default is being shared with everyone until now.
You will of course be able to change any settings you chose during onboarding at any time later through the app’s settings. There’s also an updated flow for sending money that will make it clear whether the transaction will be visible only to you, your friends, or everyone.

According to Venmo SVP and GM Alexis Sowa, this is being done to give users “more visibility and control over what they share because it’s important to us that they really trust the Venmo experience”. The redesigned app is currently rolling out to Android and iOS in phases over the coming weeks, starting with the new look of the feed.
