Samsung takes a big step forward in 6G network development | Infinium-tech

Samsung has just announced that it has successfully completed testing of a key technology that is considered to be the mainstay of future 6G networks. For those who do not know, let me tell them that Samsung is not only involved in the research and development of smartphones but also in the research and development of telecommunication networking equipment.

Samsung has partnered with KT Corporation and completed testing of eXtreme multiple-input multiple-output (X-MIMO) technology in the 7GHz band. They achieved peak download speeds of 3 Gbps by using an ultra-high-density antenna system. The said system incorporates four times the number of antennas without increasing the physical size of the device. Its size is almost the same as previous generations.

X-MIMO is called the pillar of 6G networks because the 7GHz band is considered the best solution for 6G networks right now. It strikes a good balance between capacity and coverage and is still in the millimeter wave band.

The researchers, using KT’s expertise in simulating real-world, external network conditions, streamed eight data streams from the base station to the user device.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go when it comes to 6G, but Samsung is clearly on the right track to becoming a leader in the development of next-generation mobile networks.
