Samsung Galaxy Ring in for review | Infinium-tech

Smartwatches and smart bands may be at the forefront of the wearable world, but a new category is emerging – smart rings. Samsung recently launched its Galaxy Ring after months of teasing, and now we’ve had the chance to wear it on our fingers.

Our ring is the titanium black version, which is much more sober than the shiny silver and gold.

The wearable weighs about 3 grams, and with its 7mm width and 2.6mm thickness it is much less noticeable than a watch or band. It is slightly thicker than most traditional jewellery, but is quite lightweight, meaning that those who are used to wearing rings will hardly feel its presence.

There are three sensors inside – an accelerometer to track walking and running, an optical bio-signal sensor to monitor heart rate, and a skin temperature sensor to aid sleep tracking. The ring has a concave design and a small dash that acts as an indicator as to which side should be facing down or inward.

The Galaxy Ring comes in a case that is also its charging station. It has a transparent top and an LED strip that goes around the ring and lights up to indicate the battery level. There’s also a button in the middle, which allows the ring to be restarted and reconnected to a new device.

We paired the Galaxy Ring with a Samsung flagship to ensure we could take full advantage of the Galaxy AI enhancements, but it should work equally fine with any smartphone that has the wearable and the Samsung Health app installed.

The retail package also includes a long USB-C cable and a user guide. The size 11 ring’s 18 mAh battery promises to last up to 7 days; Samsung recommends using the ring for between 7 and 30 days to get adequate health tracking and analysis.

This means we’ll spend our time testing all of Ring’s features and capabilities. Once we’re done, the full review will be posted on our homepage.
