Samsung Galaxy A54 starts receiving May 2026 security patches before its flagship siblings | Infinium-tech
This is certainly an interesting development, but for whatever reason, Samsung has already pushed an update containing Android’s May security patch to the Galaxy A55 and is now doing the same for the Galaxy A54. Meanwhile, this author’s personal Galaxy S26 Ultra is still running the patch from April 5 at the time of this writing.
Out of curiosity, we poked around in the changelog for updates. Perhaps something in this will be more relevant to the midrange Galaxy A5x family in some way? It doesn’t seem so. The May patches address two critical vulnerabilities: an elevation of privilege (EOP) issue with the Android kernel and a remote code execution (RCE) issue related to Android’s wireless ADB debugging interface. Both widespread issues can affect any device to a great extent. Additionally, the patch addresses 28 high-severity issues and 6 medium-level issues. In case you were wondering, it’s not a huge number of bugs or anything.
The update for the Galaxy A54 has build number A546EXXSJEZE5 and is quite light at around 286.79MB. Current reports indicate that the phased rollout has so far reached some Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Notably, India and Saudi Arabia are the first countries to get it.
