Samsung and Google unveil AI-powered smart glasses at Google I/O 2026 | Infinium-tech
In October last year, Samsung had announced that it was developing AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Now, at Google I/O 2026, the companies have introduced the first official glimpse of the upcoming wearable device running Android XR.
The AI smart glasses will be available in two different designs, one made by Gentle Monster and the other by Warby Parker. Although Google and Samsung have not yet revealed detailed hardware specifications, they have highlighted several key features offered by the glasses.

According to Google and Samsung, the AI glasses run Android XR and can provide hands-free access to Gemini through voice commands. Users will be able to get turn-by-turn navigation, discover nearby places, and get personalized recommendations in real-time.
The glasses will also support a range of productivity features, including the ability to place orders, view summarized message notifications, create calendar events, and more.

Additionally, Android XR glasses will enable real-time translation during conversations, and the built-in camera and AI capabilities can provide instant translation of text and signals. The camera can also be used to capture photos and videos.
Like most smart glasses currently available in the market, the new wearable device will act as a companion device that pairs with a smartphone.
Although detailed hardware specifications have not been revealed yet, the official images show the glasses equipped with a camera and an LED indicator light.
The AI-powered smart glasses developed by Samsung and Google are expected to launch later this autumn, with additional details expected to be shared in the coming months.
