RedMagic Astra 2 debuts as Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in China | Infinium-tech
The Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro has a ridiculously long name, but it might be the best Android tablet in 2026. Coming as the successor to last year’s RedMagic Astra, the new version brings the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

Like its predecessor, the new device is launching in China first and is set to make its way internationally as the Redmagic Astra 2.

The new device has the same size 9.06-inch OLED with a 2.4K resolution (1,504 x 2,400px) and a faster 185Hz refresh rate compared to 165Hz on the first-generation Astra. To help keep latency down, RedMagic is using a Synaptics S3930 touch controller, which supports a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

It also includes RedMagic’s proprietary RedCore R4 gaming chip as well as an updated active liquid cooling system that is visible on the back. In line with its gamer-centric appeal, the tablet also gets RGB lighting.

PC emulator with Steam support is another nice addition. This is a custom translation layer integrated into the Game Space app that enables x86 applications (and games) to run on tablets. According to RedMagic, users can play the title at 2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
