Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 might be made by Samsung | Infinium-tech
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon has been seen meeting with Samsung executives in Korea. This journey is about manufacturing chips on the 2nm process, and there is a possibility that Qualcomm will turn to Samsung to build the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoCs.
Back at CES in January, Amon revealed that Qualcomm was talking to Samsung about this, and it looks like discussions are still ongoing. If all this goes well and Qualcomm does indeed choose Samsung to build the next top Snapdragon SoC, it would mark a return to the Korean company for the first time since 2022, when Qualcomm moved to TSMC.

Meanwhile, Samsung has apparently restored its credibility with Qualcomm by resolving the chronic yield and overheating issues that caused Qualcomm to take its business to TSMC all those years ago. The fact that TSMC prices have risen recently probably also has something to do with it.
