Offline Google Maps support rolling out for Wear OS watches | Infinium-tech
Google just a few days ago unveiled the Pixel Watch 3 with offline Google Maps support, which is now rolling out to other Wear OS-running smartwatches as well.
Offline Google Maps allows users to navigate from their smartwatch even when it doesn’t have an active internet connection or is connected to a smartphone with internet connectivity.
The feature is available on Pixel Watch 2 with beta version 11.140.0701.W of Google Maps for Wear OS and will be rolled out to other Wear OS watches soon.
Once you update Google Maps to beta version 11.140.0701.W, you’ll see a new “Offline Maps” page above the “Settings” option. The Watch app also automatically downloads a map of your area while syncing other offline areas from your connected smartphone.
Additionally, when the smartwatch is on Wi-Fi and charging, it syncs offline maps and shows a slash icon cloud next to the time on the map when you’re offline.
