New rumor downgrades the Redmi K100 Pro Max’s chipset | Infinium-tech
The first information about the upcoming Redmi K100 Pro Max was revealed back in March and today Digital Chat Station has shared some new information about the device on Weibo.
Interestingly, back in March the K100 Pro Max was said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, but now it seems that Redmi has opted for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. If the original plan was to go with a next-generation SoC, this is likely a cost-cutting measure related to the ongoing chip shortage.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is obviously going to be cheaper than its successor, and Redmi could use the savings to buy increasingly expensive RAM and storage chips for it.

The phone is also said to have a flat screen with a 185Hz refresh rate and large rounded corners. The panel will be “ultra high resolution”, although exact numbers have not been revealed. On the back there will be a 200MP main camera using a larger (but unspecified) sensor, as well as a 50MP periscope telephoto camera.
The K100 Pro Max will reportedly have a battery with a capacity of at least 9,000 mAh, with support for 100W wired charging. It will also have wireless charging support, a “best in class” speaker system, a larger vibration motor, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The device will be IP68 and IP69 rated for dust and water resistance.
The Redmi K90 Pro Max was launched in October last year, so the K100 Pro Max could arrive in the same month this year, but its launch timeline is still unclear.
