Latest Galaxy S26 Ultra teardown shows off its impressive 5x telephoto camera | Infinium-tech
The Galaxy S26 Ultra may seem like an iterative update to its predecessor, but Samsung has included a brand new type of periscope camera sensor design, which deserves some proper attention. Luckily, Jack Nelson aka jerryrigeverythingThe latest teardown video gives us our first look at the S26 Ultra’s fancy new ALoP 5x periscope.
The All Lens on Prism (ALoP) design was announced by Samsung’s imaging division in 2024, and essentially allows for a more compact periscope sensor. As the name suggests, the lens array is placed directly on top of the prism, rather than between the image sensor and the prism, as in a traditional periscope module.

We can see the assembly at 8:00 in the video, and it’s quite impressive. Samsung’s ALoP design is 22% smaller than a traditional periscope and offers a wider f/2.9 aperture, capturing 37% more light than the S25 Ultra’s f/3.4 opening.
