iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have a complicated modem situation | Infinium-tech
Apple will use two modems in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to new revelations from leaked schematics and documents stolen from Apple supplier Tata in a cyber attack.
In the US, the company will continue to use the Qualcomm modem, and the reason appears to be that it supports mmWave 5G, while Apple’s self-developed modems still do not. On the other hand, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models sold elsewhere will use Apple’s own C2 modem.

Currently, the iPhone 17e and iPhone Air use Apple modems, while the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max use Qualcomm modems. Interestingly, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple may add support for eSIM in China. iPhones sold in China right now have two physical SIM card slots, and no eSIM support.
The same documents also reveal that the iPhone 18 Pro is getting a new camera with a sensor ID of 0x905 compared to 0x903 on the iPhone 17 Pro. This implies that the iPhone 18 Pro (and iPhone 18 Pro Max) will use a new custom developed Sony IMX905 sensor. This is in line with previous rumors which claimed that this year’s Pro models will get a main camera with variable aperture.
