Honor shows off its Blade Battery, which is designed for foldables with 7,000+ mAh capacity | Infinium-tech
The Honor Magic V6 is one of the first big announcements to come from this year’s MWC – the most impressive stats on its spec sheet are how thin it is, measuring 4.0mm open and 8.8mm folded, and how big its battery is, at 6,660mAh.
The phone benefits from Honor’s partnership with battery maker ATL. Its battery features fifth generation silicon-carbon (Si-C) material. According to Honor, it achieves high energy density by using 25% silicon content, which is the highest in the industry.
As impressive as the Magic V6 battery is, Honor isn’t stopping there and is working on an even thinner and more energy-dense battery. To showcase its progress, the company demonstrated a silicon-carbon blade battery, which increases the silicon content by 32% to achieve an energy density of more than 900Wh/L.
The Blade Battery is designed for future foldables that will have batteries with 7,000mAh capacity and above.
By the way, the “blade” in the name is quite literal, especially in the hands of Rick Smith Jr., who holds multiple Guinness World Records for throwing cards. Here’s a short video where he basically plays Fruit Ninja in real life by cutting and slicing produce with a blade battery:
