HMD Fusion announced with modular design | Infinium-tech
The HMD Fusion is the newest member in the brand’s line of post-Nokia devices and aims to adopt the modular smartphone design with the Fusion outfit.
These are interchangeable covers that can add all sorts of useful features, from wireless charging to more robust protection or a ring light for live streaming. They connect via smart pins located on the back of the device and HMD will let you 3D print your own designs via open-source HMD Fusion Development ToolkitHMD will begin selling its first-party Fusion outfits toward the end of the fourth quarter.
The HMD Fusion features a semi-transparent plastic shell just like the HMD Skyline, which offers support for easy repairs including faster access to the battery, screen, and other key components. HMD is also promising to offer spare parts via iFixit for the next seven years.
The device sports a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a 50MP selfie camera. There is a 108MP main shooter and a 2MP depth helper on the back. The main sensor has electronic image stabilization (EIS), RAW image processing with a dedicated night mode, and AI HDR.
It has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which has 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. HMD Fusion also has support for expanding storage via a microSD card slot. Talking about the software, it has Android 14, which promises two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. Talking about the specification, it has a 5,000 mAh battery, which supports 33W charging.
HMD Fusion will be launched soon €249 It will first be released in Europe, followed by a US release.
