Gurman: iPhone 16 will arrive on time, unaffected by Apple Intelligence delay | Infinium-tech

In his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple will launch the iPhone 16 in September without AI. The analyst confirmed that the phones are coming in September, despite the fact that they will ship without the flagship feature that the company is betting heavily on – Apple Intelligence. Cupertino’s AI technology is reportedly coming with a software update a month later.

Gurman also shared some personal experiences with the new service, already available on iOS 18.1 beta, saying it has a long way to go to live up to the hype. Currently, Apple Intelligence is just the smart and beautiful Siri and not the revolution Apple wants you to believe.

The Messages app will have short suggested replies, which are reportedly a slightly improved version of the long-existing reply suggestions; Mail has something similar, but the suggestions are longer.

The Reduce Interruptions Focus mode is essentially a Do Not Disturb mode that intelligently decides which notifications to let through, such as urgent text messages and emails. When Reader mode is activated, the Safari browser gets one-paragraph summaries of web pages and articles.

Writing tools make the text look more professional or friendlier and also provide proofreading. Apple Intelligence can record the call and transcribe it automatically, and the full transcription will be available after the call ends.

Gurman calls these features “not necessities, but nice-to-haves” and says they might not be attractive enough to get an iPhone 14 Pro user to migrate to the iPhone 16. Still, the analyst said users are likely to get caught up in the excitement and marketing slogans, which will be the main driver of Apple’s iPhone 16 sales.

The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max as well as all four iPhone 16 devices are expected to get Apple intelligence. Apple AI is the answer to similar products like Google Gemini, ChatGPT by OpenAI, and Microsoft’s Copilot; the company needs to do more to become the leader it wants to be.
