At its grand event today Google unveiled the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3, and finally the Pixel Buds Pro 2. These are (quite obviously) the successors to the Pixel Buds Pro from 2022, and Google promises a lot of improvements.

First up, the new Buds feature Google’s own Tensor A1 chip, which delivers “powerful performance”. So powerful, in fact, that you can expect these Buds to cancel twice as much noise in the mid-frequency range (400Hz-2kHz) as the original Pixel Buds Pro. Not only that, but the ANC adapts to your environment three million times per second.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 promise to be comfortable to wear all day, as they were designed using 45 million data points from individual ears. They have 11mm drivers and support spatial audio with head tracking. They can also be used with Gemini via the Gemini mobile app.

Google says its new buds use beamforming mics, a wind-blocking mesh cover, and Google AI to make calls clearer. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Google’s new Find My Device network. When you lose the buds or case, they will ring to help you find them. The buds also support multipoint connectivity.

The Pixel Buds app brings support for five-band custom EQ, and offers software updates for your buds. Google promises up to 8 hours of listening time with ANC on (12 hours with ANC off) and up to 30 hours with the case and ANC on (48 hours with ANC off). Speaking of the case, it supports wireless charging.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 are now available for pre-order google store Available in Porcelain, Hazel, Wintergreen and Peony for $229 / £219 / €249. They start shipping on September 26.
