Unlike AI overview, AI mode allows for more advanced logic. This feature is powered by Gemini 2.5, and it takes advantage of a fan-out technique that breaks your question into subtopics and releases many questions on your behalf. The response is then accompanied by links to sources used to compile the said answer. You can always ask a follow -up question, of course.
The AI mode is capable of handling 2-3x longer than the traditional search query, and you can also use voice inputs. The multimodal nature of AI mode allows you to insert images in your search query using Google lens. This feature is available for both Android and iOS.
To find directly using AI mode, you just have to tap on the new shortcut on the regular Google search bar, which is also available on the web.
