AT&T announces kid-friendly amiGO Jr. Phone and amiGO Jr. Watch 2 aimed at kids 12 and under | Infinium-tech
AT&T recently announced a smartphone designed specifically for children ages 12 and under. The AT&T amiGO Junior phone was created in collaboration with Samsung – it’s basically a custom version of the Galaxy A17 (5G).
The most important addition is the Amigo app, which gives parents remote control and an overview of the child’s phone. This app works on both Android and iOS devices.
With the app you can see the real time location of the child. You can set up a safe zone to get instant notification if Junior goes on an unplanned adventure. The app also shows a step counter and the phone’s battery status, so you can remind your child to charge their phone before leaving for school.
Additionally, the app gives you control over screen time and app usage. It includes a school mode and schedule that automatically sets certain restrictions at selected times.
Parental control features on AT&T amiGO Junior phones
If you don’t want to give your kid a smartphone, even a locked down smartphone like the amiGO Junior phone, you can choose the AT&T amiGO Junior Watch 2 instead. It is more limited in functionality while still offering location monitoring and the ability to call and text with up to 30 pre-approved contacts.
Either way, you can get the phone or watch on a $3 per month installment plan (including taxes and fees). The full retail price of the AT&T Amigo Jr. phone is $210, while the Amigo Jr. Watch 2 is priced at $170.
