Apple wants to save money on the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s screen | Infinium-tech
According to a new rumor coming out of Korea, Apple is trying to offset some of the higher costs of memory and storage by getting cheaper displays for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max.
In fact, its panel suppliers Samsung Display and LG are apparently selling iPhone 18 Pro Max screens to Apple at an average price of $66.5, which is reportedly about 20% less than the price Apple paid for iPhone 17 Pro Max screens last year (in the $80 range).

Even last year, Apple was getting cheaper displays than last year, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max screen reportedly priced above $100 at times. However, all this does not mean that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a bad panel. In fact, it will use the latest organic material M16, which improves luminous efficiency, lifespan and color accuracy.
The cheaper display will obviously help Apple achieve a slightly lower bill of materials for the upcoming device than it otherwise would. The company is already rumored to be increasing the prices of the iPhone 18 Pro Max due to higher memory and storage costs. This may make the increase not as big as it could have been, but the iPhone 18 Pro Max could still be $200 more expensive than its predecessor.
