Amazon Prime Video’s ad-free tier gets a new name and a price hike | Infinium-tech
You may not know it, but Amazon Prime Video actually has a high-tier subscription similar to Netflix, which offers an ad-free experience. Most people get Prime Video as part of their Amazon Prime subscription. Well, it’s one level above that and costs extra – $4.99 per month, which is $2.99 more after this new price increase. The service also has a new name – Prime Video Ultra.
However, it’s not all bad news. Amazon has really invested a lot in upgrading this new Ultra tier. It now comes with the option to watch 4K/UHD streams with optional Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The concurrent device limit has been increased to five devices, and the offline download capacity has been increased to 100 items.

Potentially even better news is that there are some upgrades to the base tier of Prime Video that also come with your Prime subscription. Although it’s still capped at 1080p streaming, it will now get optional Dolby Vision for some content. However, not Dolby Atmos, which still requires an Ultra subscription. And, of course, you’ll continue to see ads. The download item limit has been doubled from 25 items to 50.
In the US, where it’s launching first, Amazon Prime costs $14.99 and includes basic Prime Video. And the Prime Video Ultra subscription will cost you $4.99 in addition to the monthly subscription, as mentioned.
