Weekly poll results: the Realme 16 Pro+ needs a price cut to succeed, the 16 Pro needs a miracle | Infinium-tech
It seems that manufacturers are having difficulty getting the price right for their new smartphones – a problem that will only get worse as memory shortages start to affect production.
We’re not there yet, but last week’s survey shows that the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ lag behind. At least the latter has a chance if the right promotional discount is found.
While the Realme 16 Pro+ scored quite low, a good number of people are willing to give it a revisit once the price drops to a more reasonable level. As we noted in our review, the Pro+ is a solid phone, but it’s priced higher than the models it’s competing with – many people find those other phones are better value for their money.

Interestingly, the 8MP ultra-wide camera received the most criticism – the Pro+ is too expensive to have an 8MP sensor on board, even if it’s in the ultra-wide module (which some see as the least important camera). None of the commenters had anything bad to say about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
The Realme 16 Pro may be cheaper, but it also loses some key hardware, so the value for money equation is still unbalanced. Again, people criticized the 8MP ultra-wide camera, while the Dimensity 7300 Max chipset didn’t even get a mention.

This suggests that Realme had almost the right formula – it’s just that it went too far with the price savings on some components. Now it can’t be helped, but the price of both models can definitely be reduced. Still, it seems like only the Realme 16 Pro+ will be the focus.
