Weekly poll: did your phone receive the Android 16 update yet? | Infinium-tech
The first public beta of Android 16 arrives in January 2025, then the stable version starts arriving for Pixel phones in June. Other manufacturers also released OS updates for their phones, some faster than others and also varying from model to model (flagships got priority). It’s almost time to move up to the next version – Google has officially confirmed that the first Android 17 beta will be released soon.
But let’s back up a bit – did your phone get Android 16? We’re asking because Google shared an Android version distribution chart a few weeks ago and it revealed that the majority of devices are running Android 15, 14, or 13. Meanwhile, Android 16’s share was less than 8%. In fact, there are more Android 10 devices than Android 16 devices. Or were anyway. Note that the data below is as of December 1, 2025.
From June 2025, the EU has mandated that manufacturers provide software updates for at least 5 years after the end-of-sale date. That means security updates, not necessarily new OS versions, but Android manufacturers offer more OS updates for their new phones than ever before. However, this is still a slow process, as you can see in the chart above.
So, did your phone receive the Android 16 update?
And while we’re at it, what Android version does your phone run right now?
