Weekly poll: can the 200MP cameras of the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ get you to buy one? | Infinium-tech
A few weeks ago, Realme launched the 16 Pro and 16 Pro+. Right now, they’re only available in India, which is a shame – both of these have some impressive features and although they’re a bit expensive, they could have found success in other markets too.
The Realme 16 Pro+ sports a 200MP main camera (1/1.56”, OIS) and a 50MP 3.5x periscope (1/2.76”, f/2.8, OIS), along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP selfie module. It’s not perfect (video stabilization and especially ultra-wide video are lousy), but it’s better than most mid-range phones – many of which don’t even have a dedicated telephoto camera.
In our review, the phone’s 7,000mAh battery achieved one of the highest active usage scores (18:18 hours) in its category. The 80W charging system wasn’t as fast as we would have liked, but it was still fast enough. The downside to the Pro+ is that at a starting price of ₹40,000 (for the lower 8/128GB configuration), it’s ₹10,000 more than some of its competitors.

The Realme 16 Pro is cheaper, but at ₹32,000 it’s still priced higher than some competing mid-rangers. Although we haven’t reviewed it yet, it has the same 200MP main camera as the Pro+ (which showed impressive prowess at 2x zoom) and the same 7,000mAh battery with 80W charging. However, it loses the periscope, which made the Pro+ special, and it also has a less impressive chipset – the Dimensity 7300 Max instead of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
There are some other downgrades too like a plastic frame instead of aluminum and a different glass on the screen. Still, the periscope and chipset are the main reason to go with the Pro+ – and the saving of ₹8,000 is the main reason to go with the Pro.
