Tecno Camon 40 series hands-on | Infinium-tech
During MWC 2025, Tecno announced the Camon 40 Series – Camon 40 Premier, 40 Pro 5G, 40 Pro and Vanilla Camon 40 to four new smartphones. The premiere sits in the top -end with the most powerful chip, better performance, camera and charging.
Tecno took something from Xiaomi’s playbook and provided its pro model in two variants – 5G and 4G. The two instruments are essentially the same, but the 4G version is suitable for users in emerging economies where 5G is still not raised. Or you are fine with 4G network speed and you like to save a few rupees.
Either way, we had some time with all four models, but let’s start with the star of the show, Camon 40 premiere.
Techno Camon 40 Premier
The Tecno Camon 40 premiere is a mild refresh compared to its predecessor. It is not necessarily not bad, given that we really prefer Camon 30 premiere.
The most notable upgrades are design and chipset. The dimension 8200 is swapped to more recent and powerful dimensions 8350, while the body takes more traditional shapes. The two-tone appearance is still here, and the available colors are Emerald Lake Green and Galaxy Black.
Spec-wise, the display is almost the same but with some notable changes. The screen is now 6.67 “below 6.77”, but it supports a high 144hz refresh rate. The features like 10-bit color depth and HDR are also here.
We are also happy to see the quad 50MP camera system on board once again. We have found three 50mp shooters on the back with different focal lengths and a fourth one on the front, which is also PDAF-capable. This is a rare discovery in this value bracket.
Primary, Big 50MP 1/1.56 “3x optical zoom and 50MP with 50MP ultravide shooter is included by the 50MP periscope telephoto unit.
All that hardware draws electricity from a modest 5,100 mAh cell that supports 70W fast charging.
Tecno Camon 40 Pro 5G and 40 Pro
Camon 40 Pro comes in two versions – one that supports 5G connectivity and is limited to LTE. This, in turn, means that chipset is the main discrimination factor. The 5G-Taiyar version runs on an ovarian 7300 SoC, while the vanilla option resides for the Helio G100 chip.
In addition to the chipset differences, two devices share the same hardware – a 6.78 -inch OLED panel ticking 144hz, 8GB/256GB in memory, by default, the 50MP main camera is assisted by 8MP Ultravide and 50MP selfie unit with 8MP ultravide and AF. It is good to see the main and selfie cameras from high-level Camon 40 premiere.
We cannot help, but notices some clear downgrade coming from last year’s Camon 30 Pro, though. Fast charging is capted from 70W to 45W, Ultravide is now 8MP instead of 50MP and the 5G variant is set to a lower-level dimension 7300 than the Demitance 8200.
There is another notable change design. It is now quite different from the premiere and facilitates alignment of a more conservative vertical camera at the back, which we are very fond of.
Tecno Camon 40 Pro 5G and Camon 40 Pro
The available colors are once again Emerald Lake Green and Galaxy Black, but professionals have also added a glacier white option.
Techno Camon 40
Vanilla Camon 40 has a similar design as professionals, but has a simple plastic finish. Apart from this, it is largely a phone similar to non-5G 40 Pro. We have the same display, chipset, battery and charging on board.
Even the cameras are the same, except for the selfie unit. Instead of 50MP, the standard Camon 40 uses 32MP shooter without Air Force.
Interestingly, this device has the most color options from the entire series. In addition to Emerald Lake Green, Galaxy Black and Glacier White, Camon 40 will also be available in Emerald Glow Green.
We still do not know about pricing and availability, but remain.
