SpaceX buys xAI, Elon Musk promises AI in space | Infinium-tech
Elon Musk’s SpaceX recently purchased Elon Musk’s XAI (which owns the Grok chatbot and the
Unfortunately, the opportunity to rename the combined entity SpaceXE has not been taken, at least not yet. Musk says the deal was to create “the most ambitious, vertically-integrated innovation engine on (and off) Earth with AI, rockets, space-based internet, direct-to-mobile device communications and the world’s leading real-time information and free speech platform”.

Space is the next frontier for your ex post or something
Musk has promised that in the future we will have “space-based AI”, “a million satellites that serve as orbital data centers”, and humanity will become a multi-planetary Kardashev second-tier civilization, “a civilization that can harness the full power of the Sun while supporting AI-powered applications”. To top it all off, SpaceX’s Starship will (at some undefined point in the future) launch every hour with a payload of 200 tons per flight, delivering “millions of tons to orbit and beyond per year.”
Musk also says that “within 2 to 3 years, the lowest-cost way to generate AI compute will be in space”. Or so he hopes, because he’ll almost have a monopoly on it. Of course, none of this should be taken too seriously, as everything Musk says is aimed at boosting the share price of his companies, and there’s no reason for any of this to be an exception. We’ll also save you the “factory on the moon” part of the press release – if you’re into sci-fi, head to the source below for fun.
