Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature a near 1-inch 200MP rear camera | Infinium-tech
With the Galaxy S26 Ultra and its siblings now official, attention is already turning to the Galaxy S27 series. However, the latest leak is not directly about the 2027 phone. Instead, it points to a new camera sensor currently being developed by Samsung, which could eventually make its way into the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung is developing a new flagship 200MP ISOCELL sensor, reportedly codenamed HPA. The sensor is said to feature a larger 1/1.12-inch format and may debut in smartphones in 2027.

The tipster also claims that the sensor will support LOFIC technology. Although there is no explicit mention of the Galaxy S27 Ultra, it would not be surprising to see Samsung equip its next Ultra flagship with this new sensor.
Meanwhile, another famous tipster, Ice Universe, made a slightly different claim. According to him, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a modified version of the HP sensor, reportedly codenamed HP6, which will be slightly smaller in size at 1/1.3-inch. Despite the smaller sensor size, it is said to provide performance comparable to larger HPAs.
The Galaxy S27 series is still about a year away from launch, and many more leaks are likely to emerge in the coming months. That said, it would be nice to see Samsung finally upgrade the camera hardware of its flagship S series, given that the lineup has relied on the same sensors for the past four years.
