Rumor: iPad Pro series won’t get a major update anytime soon | Infinium-tech
Apple’s iPad Pro lineup could be left without updates for years to come, according to a new rumor from China. leaker instant digital believes that the current M5 generation iPad Pro 13 and iPad Pro 11 are not going to get a significant update any time soon. This rumor makes sense since Apple waits for a long time before making any major changes to its Pro tablets.

The iPad Pro received its first major redesign in 2018 with the Pro 11 (2018) and Pro 12.9 (2018), and again in 2024 with the M4 generation models.
According to the new rumor, there are several factors involved, with rising costs of OLED panels and limited sales growth being the major issues. The latest M5 generation iPad Pros use Ultra Retina Tandem OLEDs, which have two organic light-emitting layers instead of one as you find on regular OLED panels. This approach allows higher brightness output and extends the lifetime of the panel, but also significantly increases its cost.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly not going into the battle of ultra-thin display bezels like rivals Samsung and Huawei. That said, the iPad Pro is expected to get its next update either this year or in 2027. This will likely be a chip update after the arrival of the M6 generation.
