IDC: Tablet market rebounds, Apple leads the way | Infinium-tech
Worldwide tablet shipments totaled 34.4 million in the April-June period, representing a 22.1% year-on-year increase. Shipment levels are comparable to pre-pandemic values - a clear sign that tablet demand has now been successfully recovered.
Apple delivered 12.3 million iPads in the second quarter, increasing its market share to 35.8%. The introduction of new 11” and 13” iPad Air and iPad Pro models helped Cupertino jump in market share worldwide. China was the only exception as steep discounts from local brands Huawei and Xiaomi hurt Apple.
Samsung ranked second with 6.9 million shipments during the period, taking its market share to 20.1%. Lenovo ranked third with 2.5 million shipments and a 7.3% market share. Huawei shipped 2.3 million tablets and earned a 6.8% market share due to strong demand for its recent MatePad series devices.
Xiaomi ranked fifth with 2 million shipments and 5.8% market share. It claimed the highest annual growth of 94.7% with significant gains in several European markets.
