HMD and Lava to launch phones with broadcast TV support | Infinium-tech
HMD and Lava will introduce smartphones that will get broadcast TVs without the need for internet or Wi-Fi. The device will be displayed during the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) 2025, which will be held at the Jio World Convention Center in India from 1 to 4 May.
The technique is called direct-to-mobile (D2M) and allows the phone to obtain a signal and stream multimedia content without the need for cellular or wireless connection. We know that the lava phone will be equipped with an ultra-high-fibercise (UHF) antenna that receives terrestrial TV broadcasts.
Lava and HMD phones are both feature phones that will have a dedicated SL3000 chip by Sankhya Labs. Lava confirmed that his phone was developed in collaboration with Tejas Network and would be operated by a MediaTek MT6261 chip. It will also have a 2,200 mAh battery and a 2.8 “screen, which raises the question that TV needs to be watched on such a small performance.
