Apple pledges $10 million in Indonesia factory to circumvent iPhone 16 ban | Infinium-tech
A week ago, Apple banned its iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch 10 series from sale in Indonesia. The issue was a direct result of unfulfilled investment commitments in the country, which require companies to provide 40% local content to operate locally.
In a new development, bloomberg news Apple is reported to invest $10 million in a new factory in Bandung. The investment will reportedly be made with Apple’s local supplier, Yageo Corporation, which will have a new facility dedicated to manufacturing accessories and components for Apple devices.
According to the new report, Apple has submitted its proposal to the Indonesian Industry Ministry and is awaiting approval on its device ban. Apple isn’t the only tech company facing troubles in Indonesia, as Google was also banned from selling its Pixel 9 series for not following the 40% local content rule.
