Apple iPhone 16 Plus in for review | Infinium-tech
The iPhone 16 Plus is Apple’s new cheaper larger iPhone and this year it’s a little closer to the Pro Max in some ways, but farther away in others. However, it shares the same box contents – you just get a braided USB-C cable.
So what will you get in your new iPhone 16 Plus compared to the 15 Plus? It has a new design in which the two cameras on the back are aligned instead of opposite each other. This allows the iPhone 16 to shoot spatial content for the Vision Pro and it looks better too.
The 16 Plus also gets a larger battery, which Apple says is good for an hour more of video than its predecessor. Another addition is the new autofocusing 12 MP ultrawide camera with macro mode.
The new 3nm A18 chip is also available in iPhone 16 Plus. It has the same 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine as the A16 Bionic, but it is more efficient at 3nm vs. 4nm. You also get an additional 2 GB RAM on top of the 8GB.
Probably the biggest addition is the new camera control button, which has surprisingly made its way to non-Pro phones.
It is a physical button that recognizes both touch gestures and pressure. You can open the camera from a locked or any screen and delve deeper into the photographic settings without touching the screen.
So there’s a new camera control button, a new autofocusing ultrawide, an A18 chip and a bigger battery to go with the customizable action buttons. This all sounds like a solid upgrade over the iPhone 15 Plus.
However, you get the same 6.7-inch 60Hz panel for another year. This seems like a cheat for a phone costing over €1,000 and something that is really hard to accept in 2024.
