YouTube Premium is getting more expensive internationally | Infinium-tech
Users across Europe are reporting significant price increases to their individual and family plans. And although these reports are mainly from Europe, YouTube has made a quiet decision to raise prices globally. Subscribed users are now receiving emails with the new pricing that will go into effect in November.
For example, in Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, the monthly fee for a family plan will increase from €18 to €26, while the monthly fee for an individual plan will increase from €12 to €14. Swiss users will have to pay CHF 34 (increased from CHF 24) and Swedish users will have to increase their plan from SEK 179 to SEK 279.
The full list of countries with price hikes will likely be published by YouTube soon, but until then keep an eye on your email inbox.
This price hike seems pretty aggressive, and some Reddit users point out that YouTube Premium is now one of the most expensive streaming services, at least for users who are primarily using the platform for YouTube Music. For example, Spotify is asking for an average of €18 for its family plan in Europe (prices vary from country to country), while the individual plan is around €11. Apple Music is also cheaper, matching the price of Spotify’s individual plan and asking €1 less for its family plan.
