Your Android phone now auto-restarts if it’s been locked for three days | Infinium-tech
Google is currently in the process of rolling the latest updates for Google Play services. This is a way in which Android manufacturer can release some updates outside the actual OS update, and this is happening at this time.
Once your Android phone receives the latest Google Play Services updates, which is labeled 25.14, it will be automatically restarted if it is locked for three consecutive days.
It is a security facility that aims to take the phone to the state “before the first unlock”, where it will land after the auto-root. In this state, the data has been encrypted and it is difficult to access that if the phone is after your “first unlock” position, once you enter your passCode on any restart.
Apple launched a similar feature in iOS 18.1 last year (inactivity reboot is what it is called there), and Google is good to see the following suit. It will work on Android phones and tablets, but does not wear OS devices.
