WhatsApp reaches 100 million monthly users in the US | Infinium-tech
It’s been a long, tough, bumpy journey, but WhatsApp has finally reached 100 million monthly active users in the US. This market is notoriously vulnerable to Apple’s iMessage, so this is quite a big achievement for WhatsApp – there’s nowhere in the world where WhatsApp is as dominant as iMessage is in the US, or even more so.
This information is official and comes straight from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The fastest growing markets for WhatsApp in the US are Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and Seattle. The company is also saying it has experienced “considerable growth” in the South, with Texas having over 10 million users.
This is the first time WhatsApp has made this kind of data public, which makes us wonder why. We believe it’s intended to reassure those in the US who are still reluctant to install WhatsApp. Never mind, look, there are plenty of people here alreadyWill this help Americans get over their iMessage addiction? Probably not. But WhatsApp is certainly going to try, and Keep trying.
It’s also not a coincidence that this “transparency” campaign comes just months before the public release of iOS 18, as that version of Apple’s mobile OS will support RCS, making it possible to share high-quality images and videos with Android phones directly through the Messages app. This could impact WhatsApp’s further growth in the US.
