WhatsApp is preparing to add chat themes | Infinium-tech
WhatsApp has been very busy adding new features lately, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. Today, a new beta version of the app was released for Android (2.24.17.19), and it brings initial support for chat themes.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the feature is still in the early stages of development, but it is coming, and will let you choose a chat theme that will change the color of the message and the wallpaper of the chat.
If you’ve ever used Facebook Messenger, you basically know what to expect here, since that app has had a chat theme for years. WhatsApp, as in many other cases, is just trying to catch up.
If you want to test the WhatsApp beta feature on Android, you need to be on the beta track, which you can enroll in from the Play Store listing. However, keep in mind that enrollment is not open all the time.
Considering how long it usually takes for new WhatsApp features to move from beta to the stable track, we assume chat themes will be available to everyone by the end of the year.
