Weekly poll results: Sony Xperia 1 VII has stalwart supporters but the high price will deter most | Infinium-tech
Sony Xperia 1 VII will not help Sony grow out of its niche market position-from the last week pole it is clear that £ 1,400/€ 1,500 is too much for a non-folding flagship, especially with only 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Mark 7 provides a unique combination of features, but as a commentator states, many of them are not expensive at all – microSD card slots and 3.5 mm headphones do not add much to jack production costs. The same goes to flat display without a notch or punch hole. To be clear, while some people actually give importance to those features, they do not justify more value tags than any non-folding flagship.
Xperia 1 VII has some price features-such as variable focal length telephoto lens and neo-upgraded ultra-wide camera. But people want Sony to spend his time and money on upgrading the telephoto camera, not ultra-wide.
Extended support period – 4 OS updates and two more years of safety patch – good, but it can be tall, because at its end, you have to spend another £ 1,400/€ 1,500 (or more!) To get the latest Xperia 1.
Extended support can help Mark 7 in the long run, though. Many people mentioned in the comments that they are happy with the hardware of Mark 6 – but it will be only 3 OS updates total and an additional year security patch. This means that Mark 6 will get Android 17 as its final OS updates and security patch will dry up in 2028. Mark 7, meanwhile, will end at Android 19, the final safety patch will come out for some time in 2031.
Sony Xperia’s flagships keep their prices much higher, even after months of launch – as long as significant discounts are available, the next generation has come or around the corner. This means that Xperia 1 VII can see an increase in interest later in her life, but the initial sales will probably be limited to the well -heel fans of the brand.
If 28% of the voters who vote in favor of Mark 7 follow and lift through a unit (now or later), this may be a small success for Sony. But then, Mark 6 gets similar poll results and it is rare to see one in the wild.
