The tri-fold Huawei Mate XT next to the Galaxy Z Fold6 really puts things into perspective | Infinium-tech
Huawei has launched the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT Ultimate. It breaks down into three partsAnd yet, even with all that folding and three panels, it nearly matches Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold6 in thickness when folded.
The following image was shared reddit Today speaks louder than a thousand words.
On paper, the situation is something like this: the Mate XT is 12.8mm thick, while the Fold6 is 12.1mm thick, so – On paper – Samsung won this battle.
But – just look at the image above. A difference of 0.7mm is almost imperceptible to the human eye. And then there’s the fact that Huawei in three layers! Its screen is 10.2″, while the Fold6’s folding display is 7.6″. There’s no comparison.
Now, watch what’s going to happen in the comments. Samsung fans will insist that the Korean company is very particular about the robustness and durability of foldables, and that’s why it seems like its last innovation in this area was actually the original Galaxy Fold from 2019. It has spent all its time perfecting the little things, making sure every single detail about its foldables is perfect.
The other side will point out how Samsung’s Folds have looked the same for years, and how only minor improvements have been made to them each year, and how most of those improvements are actually being made (very slowly) by Samsung to fix a problem it itself caused (the narrow shape when folded), and how Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei have been the real innovators in this space lately with this tri-fold, and with the Honor Magic V3 (and how thin that is).
So, give it a try! People on the Reddit thread mentioned above certainly debated this topic a lot.
