The new Apple iPad mini (2024) is now available globally, AI features coming later this month | Infinium-tech
Announced last week, the new Apple iPad Mini (2024) is now available. The new slate comes with 128GB of storage for $500, which is double that of its predecessor. This is for a Wi-Fi only model, but a Wi-Fi+Cellular version is also available for $650. If you need more storage, 256GB and 512GB options are also available.
The main upgrade is the Apple A17 Pro, aka iPhone 15 Pro chipset but with a few downgrades. This, along with the extra RAM (8GB), allows the new Mini to run Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence will arrive as a software update soon – iPadOS 18.1 will bring the first batch of features later this month, with more features added in the coming months. There’s one “but” here – Apple Intelligence will initially only be available in US English (essentially, it’s only for people in the US).
The new iPad Mini also has faster connectivity. It supports Wi-Fi 6E (AX) over the regular Wi-Fi 6. Plus, USB-C 3.2 Gen2 goes up to 10Gbps, which is double the port on the older mini.
