The Honor Magic V3 survives a series of torture tests | Infinium-tech

The Honor Magic V3 is already available in China and is set to arrive in Europe at the IFA expo early next month. Not only is it the thinnest foldable in the market, but Honor claims it is also one of the most durable. Honor put the smartphone through a few torture tests to prove its durability – a hydraulic press machine and a washing machine.

Usually, an ultra-thin and lightweight smartphone comes at the cost of durability, but it seems like the case is different with the Magic V3.

Under a hydraulic press machine, the V3’s hinge can withstand 1,150kg of pressure, even breaking granite rock. This is mainly thanks to Honor’s self-developed super steel.

Additionally, the V3 uses a special fiber that is stronger than Kevlar and standard carbon fiber, while the inner screen has an impact-resistant silicone gel material. Upon impact, it solidifies and protects the screen. The outer screen, on the other hand, is protected by an anti-scratch nanocrystal shield, which has 50% more crystal density than standard displays.

Last but not the least, the handset is IPX8-certified and can be submerged up to a depth of 2.5 meters without any issues. The washing machine test is proof of this.

Honor’s most advanced foldable phone to date will launch on September 5 during IFA 2024 in Berlin. But while you’re waiting, you should know that we got our hands on a unit to do our own durability testing and we’ve put it to quite the test. Keep an eye on our homepage to find out how it fared and if Honor’s claims hold any water!
