Tata buys Pegatron’s iPhone making plant in India | Infinium-tech
Tata Electronics has acquired 60% stake in Pagatron’s iPhone manufacturing plant in India. In March last year, Tata also bought Wistron’s operations in India, so it is clearly serious about becoming a big player in electronics manufacturing in India.
The acquisition of control stake in Pagatron Technology India has been approved by the Competition Commission of India. After the acquisition, Pagtron India will have to undergo rebranding to align with the new ownership structure.
Tata is already operating an iPhone assembly plant in Karnataka, which was achieved through vistron acquisition last year, and is now becoming even bigger players in Apple’s supply chain. Tata is also in the process of creating another iPhone assembly in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
All this outlines India’s growing importance as the center of electronics manufacturing.
