Spotify adds 1000 more audiobooks | Infinium-tech
Spotify has announced a new partnership that will add over 1,000 new audiobooks to its library.
The Swedish streaming platform is partnering with Bloomsbury, one of the United Kingdom’s largest publishers, to bring titles like Want, the recent number one bestselling title by Gillian Anderson, to the world.
Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, announced the partnership on the one-year anniversary of adding audiobooks to Premium. The catalog has been expanded with “a range of spectacular titles from acclaimed authors”, including Sarah J. Maas, William Dalrymple, Alan Moore, Madeline Miller, Dan Jones, Samantha Shannon and Ann Patchett.
These authors’ titles are paired with narration from top-tier talent like Meryl Streep, Emilia Clarke, Adjoa Andoh, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Sam Halstead, director of audio at Bloomsbury, said the partnership will bring writers and storytellers to the widest possible audience.
Spotify said that since launching audiobooks, the company has paid out “hundreds of millions of dollars to publishers” on an annual basis.
