Samsung unveils the Galaxy Quantum5 – a quantum-powered secure smartphone | Infinium-tech
First and foremost, the Galaxy Quantum 5 was developed in collaboration with SK Telecom and is exclusive to the network. Therefore, you won’t be able to find it outside of South Korea. The second partnership that made the phone possible is with ID Quantique (IDQ). This is the company that provides the quantum cryptographic chip.
The chip is called a quantum random number generator (QRNG). It uses quantum physics to generate truly random numbers used in the encryption and decryption process of sensitive data such as biometrics and passwords. The use of truly random numbers from an independent chip limits the possibility of external influence and tampering, which more traditional random number generation methods are susceptible to.
Apart from the additional QRNG chip, the Galaxy Quantum5 is basically the Galaxy A55. Some of the specs highlights include an aluminium frame and glass front and back body with IP67 ingress protection, 6.6-inch, 120Hz Super AMOLED display, stereo speakers, 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro back. It has an Exynos 1480 paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. A 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging keeps the lights on.
Samsung Galaxy Quantum 5 is available in three colour options: Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac and Awesome Navy. The retail price is KRW 618,200 ($465),
