Samsung to launch a unique tri-fold smartphone this year | Infinium-tech
Last year Huawei shocked the world with the Mate XT, a “tri-fold” smartphone (by the way, it folds not three times, but twice). And ever since its launch, we’ve been wondering when another smartphone maker would come out with its own tri-fold device.
If we look at a new report from Korea, the answer now appears to be “in the second half of 2025.” And Samsung will be offering its own version, though it will be available in very limited quantities when it launches – less than 300,000 units to be exact.

This is obviously due to the extremely complex production required for such a device, but we’re sure Samsung will find ways to improve its production capacity if the device becomes hugely successful.
However, this may be difficult as it is perhaps not unexpectedly rumored that the foldable Samsung will launch so far will have the highest price. The screen of the Samsung device will be made by Samsung Display. It will reportedly fold in a different way than the Huawei Mate XT, and the folding screen will not unfold from one side when it is fully folded. Its purpose is to improve durability.

The machine translation from Korean states that the screen size will be different due to the new folding mechanism, and will be “10.5 inches when opened to the left and 12.4 inches when opened to the right”. The device will not have an under-display camera.
