Samsung testing a dual-cell 20,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, rumor claims | Infinium-tech
We have recently seen a rise in smartphones from Chinese brands with batteries of 8,000mAh or larger. Now, a tipster claims that Samsung is testing a larger 20,000mAh dual-cell battery for the SDI smartphone.
Samsung is not really known for increasing the battery capacity in its smartphones. Even its latest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, comes with a 5,000mAh cell. However, according to a tipster, Samsung SDI is currently testing a dual-cell silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 20,000mAh.

According to the tipster, the dual-cell setup consists of a 12,000mAh cell that is 6.3mm thick, paired with an 8,000mAh cell that is 4mm thick. During testing, the battery reportedly achieved an impressive 27 hours of screen-on time (SOT) and approximately 960 annual charge cycles.
As stated, the trial reportedly did not end well. The battery is said to have swelled shortly after testing ended, raising concerns about long-term durability. Another tipster says that the thickness of the 8,000mAh cell has increased from 4mm to 7.2mm.
Notably, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it is not a very reliable source. It is also likely that Samsung SDI is testing batteries for electric vehicles rather than smartphones.
