Samsung starts production of its fastest SSD for PCs | Infinium-tech
Samsung announced that it has started mass production of its fastest SSD for PCs. The company claims that the PCIe 5.0-based product, model name PM9E1, has the industry’s highest performance and largest capacity.
Samsung said the memory stick is built on a 5nm-based controller and 8th generation V-NAND technology. It aims to “deliver powerful performance and advanced power efficiency, making it an optimal solution for on-device AI PCs.”
The PM9E1 delivers up to 14.5 GB/s read speeds and 13 GB/s write speeds, enabling a host of data-intensive AI applications.
Samsung will offer the PM9E1 in various storage options including 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB.
Several protocols are implemented to protect SSDs, including Secure Channel, Device Authentication, and Firmware Tampering Attestation. These technologies prevent supply chain attacks during the production or distribution processes.
Samsung will be the first to offer PCIe 5.0-based solutions to global PC makers. Later, it should reach consumer markets, but not before the PM9E1 gets a nice-sounding name like 1090 PRO or something similar.
