Samsung hit with $117M fine over patent infringement | Infinium-tech
Samsung found himself under a patent violation case filed with the US district court in Texarkana, Texas. The court reached an initial decision and ordered Samsung to pay $ 117.7 million in damage. The plaintiff? Maxel (East Hitachi Maxel), whose Galaxy smartphone and tablet unlocking tech, data management and patents related to smart home platforms were violated.
The current case was initially filed back in September 2023 when Maxel accused Samsung of violating seven patents by selling several types of products, which included all using Maxel’s patent technology with smartphones, laptops and home appliances along with smartthing stations.
According to a report shared by Korea heraldSamsung licensed Maxel’s patent ten years ago in 2011. Once the initial agreement ended in 2021, Samsung continued to use patent technology without re -organizing his license with Maxel. The Japanese company then filed legal complaints in several district courts in the US, Germany and Japan.
Samsung may appeal to the current district court’s decision in a High Court, and is expected to do so, which is over that the legal battle is over.
